Some highlights of French treachery: 1689 - 1763 France wages a horrific guerrilla war against American colonists, employing Indian allies in brutal attacks against a civilian population. Significant numbers of men, women and children, murdered, kidnapped, scalped, and tortured by French and French allied Indians 1783 - Treaty of Paris - French clandestinely attempt to tie down Brits by supporting a "status quo" settlement in North America whereby the Brits would retain whatever U.S. territory they currently held. This was designed to drag America into the next, inevitable British-French conflict. British wisely refuse to take the bait. 1798-1800 French Quasi-War War waged on American shipping by French warships and privateers in an attempt to force America to side with France against Britain in another British-French War. 1864-1867 Emperor Maximilian, under French military support, and with the connivance of the French government, slipped into Mexico during the American Civil War in an attempt by the French to subvert the Monroe Doctrine and establish a European monarchy on our southern border. 1917-1918 French and Brits sucker U.S. into a European conflict with the Kaiser. America helps win the war and Clemenceau, Orlando and Lloyd George laugh up their sleeves at idiot naive Democrat President Wilson at Versailles. 1940-1944 Vichy France conspires with Hitler and Nazis to help the NAZI war effort against Britain and the U.S. in Europe and North Africa. 1949 - 1954 French Indo-China War. French sucker Truman Administration into getting involved with their colonial war in southeast Asia, setting groundwork for American involvement in the Viet Nam War March, 1966 French withdraw from NATO under DeGaulle. Oct. 1978 - Feb 1979 Lunatic Ayatollah Khomenei given refuge by French. 1986 – Bombing of Libya. Reagan bombs Libya in retaliation for Lockerbie bombing. French refuse to allow U.S. planes stationed in Britain to cross Frnech territory in raid, resulting in the deaths of Ameican pilots. I would wlecome any additional examples of Gallic treachery. The French are not our "friends". They never were and never will be. They are as fickle, treacherous, duplicitous and dangerous as they were in Julius Caesar's day.
