Omaha's Head Start finished last

It looks like the federally funded agency program known as head start is belly up. 6.5 million dollars is gone. Now the Omaha Public Schools wants to take over the program and of course the money.

Education in the US is one of the biggest cash cows in history. In exchange for billions, almost trillions of dollars, the American people get (drum roll), sex education, Politically Correct (if not factually) history, and the ability to do math at the lowest levels in the free world. In new York, despite efforts of their own Head Start Program, black Americans living in the poorest parts of the city have a drop out rate of over 50%, over 50%. Not just in New York but other large cities as well. This dispite the fact that billions and trillions of dollars (over time) have been spent.

How much longer can this farce continue? Probably indefinitely if the education unions have any say, and they do. Each year the unions spend millions of dollars lobbying democrat's to block any effort at reform, especially reform that would hold teachers accountable for their inability to teach.

If Omaha's leaders understood this they would reject Omaha Public Schools attempt to add to their budget and reject federal funding for head start. Instead the money should go to a vouchers program so children parents everywhere can send their children to decent schools, whether public or private that meet their needs. You can bet the Omaha public school system will fight that.
