COUNCIL BLUFFS - It appears that Council Bluffs, so far ignored as the presidential candidates have blitzed Iowa this fall, is scheduled to get its first campaign visitor - President Bush.
President Bush
The president currently is scheduled to drop into the metro area for a Council Bluffs rally on Monday, eight days before Election Day, Republican sources speaking on condition of anonymity said Wednesday.
Details of the event were still pending, but it is scheduled for the afternoon, the sources said.
"It's as close to being definite as you ever get out of the White House this far in advance," said one GOP source.
Iowa and Nebraska GOP officials would not confirm the president's plan. Bush campaign officials in Iowa said they do not confirm campaign visits until the president's schedule is released by the White House.
If the event is handled like Bush's many previous campaign visits to Iowa, anyone attending would need a ticket.
